That is the foursome from Infy in front of the Opera House. Me, Keertikar, Siddharth and Madhu. Keertikar and Siddharth were flown in as late reinforcements.

For the love of cricket! March 5, 2006

This is another view of the quaint ground where we watched the cricket match. The cricket season in Australia is over and everyone talks only about Footie. Footie, is rugby with an Aussie dimension to it. However you look at it, its the same violent sport which is beyond comprehension for us Indians. The hot news on the cricket front is that I have been selected to join the Aussie cricket team since McGrath is injured and Cricket Australia (the Aussie board) feels there cannot be anyone better than me to play in McGrath’s place! :-)
After our “traumatic” experience “sight-seeing” in Bondi, we watched a local cricket match being played in really picturesque settings! The ground looked right out of the early 1900s with white picket fences. And the match was very competitive too. The classical ambience of the ground defies expression. The Aussies play such good cricket even at the local level, its no big surprise that they produce international cricketers of such class.

Looked like its crime being fully attired at Bondi. We four desis looked totally out of place in the company of hundreds of scantily clads. For sometime we even thought that we would be fined for being fully covered! Luckily there were a few Sri Lankan aunties who gave us some stiff competition.
Thats Bondi Beach for you. (Pronounced Bond-eye. These Aussies are crazy!). Just another run-of-the-mill beach, but for the people who are out sunbathing! :-) . To preserve my reputation I have refrained from posting other pics which unfortunately have to be censored.

Thevan Raju and Ramya hosted a dinner last weekend, in which Madhu and I were eager participants. This was the first truly desi dinner we had (excluding Indian hotels which serve bland Indian fare) in a long time! Proved that Ramya is an excellent cook too. For Madhu (in the picture), the dinner was a wonderful way to break his Mahashivaratri fast!
